The Laura Ingalls Wilder Award is now the Children's Literature Legacy Award. The board of the Association for Library Service to Children, which is a division of ALA, voted to change the name because of Wilder's racist-as-shit depictions of Native Americans. I'm of two minds about this. On the one hand, at some point you can't enjoy anything written before 2005. On the other hand, people are actively being hurt by this, and they're not withdrawing her books or anything. She didn't endow the award, she was just a plank owner in a manner of speaking. What do you all think?
